INTERNET AUCTIONSA Board to ask questions about how to start, how to get help, tips, how to show your items and where an available auction site can be found.
I have noticed that most people bid the last couple of days on items. So do you have your auctions go for 7 days so that more people see them? or go for the three days to get to the bidding?
I always leave mine go for 7 days. But then I also have an E-Bay store, where I usually have the same item as a "buy it now" at a higher cost, if they want it sooner.
I think it depends on the item. For example, about a year ago I set my bil up on Ebay - he has several collectible and novelty items - and I ended up doing the listing, communicating and shipping as well for him. Anyway, because he has unusual type items, I list them for ten days.
I always list my dolls for seven days because - here's a tip: The largest number of Ebay viewers surf through Ebay on Sunday night. So, I start and end at least one doll on Sunday night. That way, they are seen by a larger number of people when they are first posted and again when the auction is ending.
The WORST times to list anything on Ebay are Friday and Saturday nights. If those nights are the only times you have access to your computer or are the most convenient times for you to list, you can schedule your auctions to start on another day and time for a whopping ten cent fee.
If you feel you have a really hot item that a lot of people will just be dying to bid on, go for the 3 day auction.

I like shorter auctions....as a buyer...as a seller I usually did mine 5 days. Like GG...I noticed I got more bids ending on Sunday night. (I think it's the NASCAR, Football, sports in general thing myself...wife says...so he's gonna watch sports all day...I'm gonna BUY BUY BUY all day!!! INTERESTING Sher! I didn't know that! I was deliberately having my auctions end on Saturday and Sunday late morning to mid afternoon! I also tried to have my auctions end close to each other... in case someone wants to combine shipping
Good question on auction length.. i generally let mine run the standard 7 days. occasionally i will list a 5 day or three day if i am in a hurry or it;s an item i know for a fact will sell quickly with a high starting bid or buy it now. i never do 10 day- they cost extra. i have a seasonal e bay store, but i close it during the winter months due to the supply difficulty i have with my woodshop being closed.
Has anyone tried Yahoo auctions, i have been doing them lately and it is so much cheaper it only cost me 4 to 6 cents per item,so far to sell anything depending on the asking price and final price, and if it don't sell i pay nothing. you can add 3 photos free. I have sold more there than on ebay. I am not knocking ebay but there is another cheaper option and i also use paypal on there.
