Default 20 items a day
Old 01-04-2009, 08:30 AM   #1 (permalink)

For the month of January (I know it's already a few days old, it's alright) I'm eliminating 20 items a day.
Sell
Give
Recycle
Trash

20 items every day.
AND
keep as many things from coming in as possible.
Every day is new. No "roll over items" getting rid of 30 today does not mean only 10 tomorrow. 20 a day.

By the end of the month things should be looking pretty good around here.

Anyone want to join me in this challenge?

I'm on board for this!! Only I should be getting ready for way more than 20 if I want to see a difference! LOL! My house is way too cluttered!

Ummm, yup! I'll do it!! But how strict are you going to be? Not sure I could handle 20 a day, house might be a bit naked by the end of the month. Can I start yesterday? ( I did my kitchen cupboards yesterday)

When my kids were little we'd do "stop 10". Stop what you're doing and pick up 10 things, then go back to what you were doing. It was easy, manageable, and didn't over whelm them.

That's the idea here. If you want to get rid of 50, go for it. But if the idea of trying to reach 50 makes you do none it doesn't help.
If 10 a day gets you the control you need, do that.

20 a day for 31 days is 620 items! That's a serious dent! Don't over think it. Do what ever number works for you.
Yesterday I cleaned off the dining room table. 20 was not so easy (not much to get rid of, just put away), but now I can see the table top again.
Today I'm going through books. 20 will be easy.

Good luck!

Big clean out for us today. 5 boxes of books to the thrift store; a chair freecycled; and 3 patterns sold on Etsy! booyaaa!
Onward and upward!
My son can almost just open the door and walk to his drums, no sliding in sideways or having to walk on things to get there.
Tomorrow's garbage day. The can will be full this week!

How's everyone doing?

How's everyone doing on the 20 items a day?

Just when I thought it was going to get hard to find 20 items I went out to the garage! Found 3 boxes of stuff to send to the thrift store!

We're half way through the month! We can do it!

I am in the process of cleaning out my file cabinet. The shredder sure is getting a workout. I have been pretty busy cleaning things out. I have DH going through his stuff too. You are right - lots of garbage to be picked up tomorrow.
