Default Laundry Room Woes
Old 10-14-2006, 01:17 AM   #1 (permalink)

Does anyone else dislike doing the laundry?? I don't mind loading the washer, putting in the detergent, the fabric softner and putting the button to get it started! I don't even mind transferring the wet clean clothes to the dryer and getting that going!!!! It is what happens when those clothes are dry that I TOTALLY hate!!!

Here are a few helpful hints that might help you get things going a little smoother~

In my house we have 4 laundry hampers: one for whites, colors, jeans and towels. As far as the hand washables, bed linens and special items those are done as needed. This helped my family get a little better about putting their clothes in the correct place so they could be washed! ( My sister never understood the laundry hamper idea until she married a man that had 2 sons~add that to her son and you have HEAPS of laundry!)

This also made it alot easier to wash as the hampers were full~if the jeans are full we do them. No more weekend laundry events!! We might do 1 load of laundry a day~

BEFORE YOU WASH

Turn clothes right side out. Turn pockets inside out and turn down the cuffs.

Close zippers, fasten hooks (especially on bras) to prevent tangling.

Pre-treat stains or pre-soak for bad stains.

I have found that those stain sticks work really good for the stains. Put one out so that family member can treat their own stains!

ORGANIZING THE FOLDED ITEMS

When folding laundry group items together.
Have a basket for each family member~put their items in their baskets.

Fold sheets and put them in the pillowcase.

I really like the sheets in the pillow case idea!

As far as doing laundry, I do at least one load a day so that it doesn't BECOME my day! Putting away one load is not as much of a chore as putting away 5 loads!
