| I'm not sure if I'm putting this in the right forum, so I hope if it's wrong someone can move it for me (or tell me how). But it seemed important that everyone be aware. The other day, Mom was telling me a story, and I notice I do this-and now I'm working hard to break this habit. Mom was at Walmart and this little mexican woman kept pointing at Mom's purse and was talking very frantically. Mom thought she was complimenting her and tried to walk away. The women kept pulling on her arm and getting very upset. Finally, Mom figured out the women was telling her that her purse had been in the child seat of the cart (just like Mom's was) and while she was looking at something, someone came and took her purse. That quick. I've noticed that I put my purse in the same spot. I now keep one hand wrapped around the handle, if I leave the cart so does the purse. Have you been at a store and noticed a cart abandoned in in a aisle with a purse sitting in the seat? Scary, how quickly that can happen.... | | | | | Moderator Level up: 41%, 197 Points needed |

| That is some very good advice. I never carry a large purse anyway. I'm so scatterbrained, I'd set it down somewhere and just forget about it. I carry a small billfold type purse, with no strap, when I go shopping. I keep it right under my arm, where I know where it is at all times. I never even liked putting my son in the seat part of the buggy, lol! I had a dream one time that when he was an infant in a car-carrier seat, someone took the carrier seat with my baby... what a nightmare!
So, I only use the child seat part for produce, lol! Corn and tomatoes sit just fine there, and my son and wallet are right at arms reach, lol!
Thanks for the advice! It is something to think about.

| I live in a small town and one evening I went grocery shopping. I always put my purse in the cart. This particular day I went home and left the purse there. The store called shortly after I got home. Some gentleman had taken it into the store so they could return it. I almost had a heart attack. It sure is a scary thing to have happen to you. I have learned my lesson. | | | | | Moderator Points: 24,747, Level: 68 | Level up: 69%, 153 Points needed |

| Good advice from all!! I always put my purse in the child seat, but I carry a smaller purse with a very long shoulder strap!!
Anyway as soon as I put it in the seat I wrap that shoulder strap around and around the handle and I keep one hand on that at all times!! I take my purse with me if I have to leave the cart for squishy isles or what ever!!
I have left my Crads at different stores a few times, but Have always got them back!! Good thing!! I never tell DH about this though!! | | | Hugs!!

| This exact thing happened to my mom in the grocery store. She has ALWAYS put her purse in the child seat. She turned her back for half a second and it was gone! No one in sight and no one saw anything! She's 87 years old! This happened to like 3 or 4 elderly ladies within like a week! All at the same store! You would think someone would have seen SOMETHING! But nope. The store has security cameras, but they don't work. How stupid is that??? And this is a major chain store! She did get her purse back, but the contents were all gone. Lipstick, gum, pictures, clean undies and all. (yes, she carries clean undies.)
She no longer shops at that store and keeps her purse on her shoulder or ties it into the cart with it zipped!
I on the other hand, haven't quite learned this yet. One of these days I'll be sorry. I am trying though. | | | | | Moderator Level up: 41%, 5 Points needed |

| I never thought about this too much either until my aunt mentioned to me that I should secure my purse in the cart using the child safety belt-just put one end through your purse loops and snap it together. I still tend to keep a hand on my purse, too, but this will slow someone down if you do happen to turn away for a second. I've used this tip ever since. | | | | |
