Hello!
My wife and I would like to make the twisted paper witches HERE, but we cannot find the twisted paper!
We would like it to be roughly 1/2" to 5/8" in diameter - that translates to about 50" wide untwisted.
We need several yards in white or ivory or an off-white.
Any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated...
We just joined up so we're looking forward to chatting with you all!
Thanks for the welcome Lanak! And howdy back at ya!
I've looked at EVERY craft store in town. Twisted paper NOT at Wal-Mart, Meijer, Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, Michaels, The Hobby Store, United Art & Education, searched E-Bay, done several other internet searches, even made calls to manufacturers(was told that item was once popular but they have taken their machinery off the production floor and it's in storage - and was told maybe, MAYBE I could find it in a overseas market).
The pencil thin twisted paper is still available, bet we want the heavier stuff.
Thanks for the welcome Lanak! And howdy back at ya!

She was one of the first people I talked with.
Their twisted paper is 4 1/2" wide and is twisted to the size of a pencil(about 3/16"-1/4")... really smaller than we wanted.
I've contacted sever overseas mfgs. and have had responses from 3 of them.
Each told me the same thing... that the 'jumbo twisted paper' has gone out of fashion and they no longer make it.
But they politely reminded me that they make 193 other paper products!
I guess we're going to work up other plans for our holiday gifts...
Thanks for all the responses.
If something ever does materialize, I'll post the source for everyone, if your interested...

Hi Mystro, My girlfriend and I were just talking about that the other day.
It was called creative twist and you put it in water to open the pieces up. I hope she is wrong but she told me she hasn't seen that stuff in a long time. I used to love to make baskets with them. STAY HEALTHY, Lori Twizzels
Hi Twizzels,
We have almost 2 yards of the product left over from a previous adventure 5-6 years ago.
This is just twisted paper that can be easily unrolled into a 60" sheet.
It works really well for what we did the last time.
We took tomato cages from the hardware store, clipped the ends off and wrapped them(big side down) in construction paper and hot glued the construction paper to the cage. This made a sort of 'undergarment'.
We then loosely unwrapped sections of the 'Jumbo Twisted Paper' to make a sort of 'slip'. then we added other elements, including 4-5 yard sections of the 'Jumbo Twisted Paper' to form a kind of 'dress' for our figurine.
I cut some chicken wire and formed it into a head shaped figure and used it as a wire frame armature for a paper mache' head and face. After adding arms, painting and a few other beautifying accessories, they looked pretty good.
I them mounted the entire tomato cage figure onto a 3/4 plywood round with a hole in the center for a single Christmas tree light.
Just plug 'em in and they glow real nice!
But, I guess we'll come up with a new "twist" this holiday season...(sorry)...
