Default finishing a necklace
Old 04-29-2009, 10:47 AM   #1 (permalink)

Hello all...... I made this necklace with beads and kind of a stiff thread. I get all the way to the end and I don't know how to add a clasp. each end has two threads.
Any suggestions? I know I should have included a pic.

What you need to do is get yourself a couple jump rings, and some crimp beads, both are sold at Micheals if you don't have any.

What you will do it slip a cremp bead over the the strands then slip on the jump ring. Bring the 2 strings around and put them through the crimp bead to a desired hoop and then crimp the bead to hold stings in place, so the same to the other side, now you attach your closure clasp.

I hope this helps!!

Hi, I do alot of jewelry including beading and silversmithing. I usually use wire for most of my projects which is when I would use the crimp beads, but when using thread I use french wire. French wire is like a spring that you pull your thread through to protect it from breaking, then you can add a jump ring and clasp, or togle. Check out www.firemountaingems.com they have great tutotorials to help with this. Good luck.
