Question The flower girl and the ring bearer
Old 01-19-2009, 04:12 AM   #1 (permalink)

Hi!

I'm looking for a pattern to make 2 satin flower girl baskets for my daughter's upcoming wedding. I have found the 2 small woven baskets and the fabric at JoAnn, but no one seems to have a pattern for covering them. I would also consider just starting from scratch and make my own "basket" and then cover it with the satin.

I also need to make the ringbearer's pillow and was wondering how big it should be. The sewing of that should be fairly easy (??), I hope!

Thank you in advance for any helpful suggestions!

I did find this search for how to make a ring bearer pillow, lots of different ones here..
how to make a ring bearer pillow - Google Search

I cant find anything definite on the basket cover though, I would just measure your material to the baskets you have & then hot glue to the inside edge of the basket, then wrap the handle & secure with hot glue. Trim the top edge of the basket with ribbon or lace would be very pretty.

If I come across anything else I will post back.

Karen

When I have made ring bearer pillows they have been about 10 inches square. I always add a pocket across the bottom for the ring bearer to slide his hands into. They have been young and it is easier for them to hang on to that way. As far as flower girl baskets, have you seen those padded baskets made out of ice cream buckets? They are usually floating around at christmas etc. could you modify a pattern for something smaller for the FG basket? Just a thought.

I think for ours my Mom just covered the outside and hot glued it inside the basket then put a container with the fresh flowers in on top.
