Default Help Please

I try to find crafts for ladies in a senior complex to make. Someone told me about dogs made with yarn and coat hangers, but she can't remember how to shape the hangers. Does anyone know how to make these dogs. Also, if you have any other simple and inexpensive ideas for things they could make, it would be very much appreciated.

How healthy are the ladies in the group? I ask because if they have trouble seeing or using their hands or even following directions that will greatly limit what they can make. Depending on the group it might be fun to do an assembly line set-up based on abilities. I've also seen news stories where ladies have gotten together to make toys and blankets for newborns and preemies in their local hospital, toys for the police and fire crews to give to trauma victims, booties and caps for servicemen and women...the ideas are limitless and it gives the ladies a purpose and the pride of helping others.

Googling "yarn dog hanger" yielded these two sites -hopefully one of them is what you are envisioning.

Thank you. The ladies that want to do crafts are able to use their hands and can see okay.
We made 'comfort bears' and gave some to the sherriff Dept. the Rescue Unit and the hospital to give to kids when they were in a trama situation. Also good for nursing home patients. We just cut a little piece of fleece for a blanket and attached a little poem. I have the poem if anyone is interested, you can email me at craftypj7694@yahoo.com. It is kinda long so I thought I probably shouldn't put it on here. After that they kept asking what else are we going to make. We made some vases by decoupaging tissue paper on them. May baskets using little white baskets sold for wedding favors. We used tissue paper to decorate them and everyone just makes them their way. We made string angels yesterday. Someone had already made the angels out of string, and we decorated them. They turned out cute and everyone is proud of their accomplishment.

Oh how fun it sounds to be part of your group of ladies. There is a huge site called Crafty Bits and it has tons of projects - you would be able to keep them busy for quite a while with all of those projects.

As a disclaimer, Crafty Bits is not my site, I've 'met' the owner on another crafting forum. My site is called Crafty Tips Arts & Crafts Directory* and you might be able to find some sites on there that have good ideas as well.
