I could really use some help with those cute little names folks put on tombstones. I'm making a Halloween wreath and it will have some tombstones on it and I want to put names on them under the R.I.P. Any help sure would be appreciated!
Hi! Welcome to CC! Let me think about it for a little while, but I'll try to help you with names!
I read the names in Mawmaw's links... Didn't see Dawn A. Thyme
I also know a few headstone poems:
Beneath these stones
Repose the bones
Of Theodosius Grimm
He took his beer
From year to year
And then the bier took him
****************************
Beneath this stone, this lump of clay
Lies Uncle Peter Daniels
Who too early in the month of May
Took off his winter flannels
*******************************
Here we lie in this grave,
Back to back, my wife and I.
When the last trump the the air should fill,
If she gets up, I'll just lie still.
************************************
Here lies the grave of Mike O'Day
Who died maintaining his right of way.
His right was clear
His will was strong
But he's just as dead
If he'd been wrong

"Collecting" tombstones is a hobby of mine. I hope no one was offended at any of the above. They are all real, and are located in various graveyards around the US.
Under strange doctor's names, we have a ob-gyn in Montgomery who is named Dr. Virgin. My daughter saw his partner during the pregnancies of her two sons, but his name was Dr. Ashurst. She never got to see Dr. Virgin.
When my brother had his appendix out his dr was Dr. Payne, and then we heard Dr. Slaughter being called for over the paging speakers.
Ok, no joking here... but this is an irony. My niece's doctor's name is Kent Clark. When it's listed in the phonebook, it looks like Clark, Kent MD. Even funnier is the actual phone booth just in front of his office.
