Hi Everyoone! Social networking is a way to get to know people and recieve potential help or to find potential customers for your crafts.
If you haven't yet hard of them, here are a couple of sites that might interest you:
    http://www.MyCraft.com

    http://www.myhandmaderegistry.com/profile/ClotildeM

Also, there's a relatively new place to sell crafts, similar to Etsy, but you can sell for NO FEES! If you choose to advertise a sponsor.
    It is called Shop Handmade.

Hope this info can help someone.
    Take care!

Hey there fellow recycle crafters! I just joined the group and I'm so excited to share ideas and network with other crafters who recycle. Currently I made notebooks, pendants, envelopes and gift tags from recycled items. I posted a couple of items in the community forums of products I make with recycled items. I think I can attach an image here so I'll try it. :)

Hi! Thank you for the warm welcome! Well, if you get a lot of No. 6 plastic (white or transparent containers, such as the ones for blueberries, strawberries, or the white containers for some foods), some of them have a 6 printed underneath, you can recycle them into keychains, buttons and other things by using them as you would shrinky dinks! But it has to be No. 6 otherwise it is a lot more toxic.
I've made shrinky dinks out of cutout from lemon soda bottles. My nephew was a sodaholic (until he got kidney stones), I mean he DRANK lemon soda! And he would give me the empty bottles, I would cut them up into the shape I wanted, sand them really well on the reverse side sot hat it would take the coloring pencils I use and them shrink them using a heat gun. It works really well. You can use water bottles too! The trick is to keep it from warping. As the plastic shrinks, it tends to twist and turn and if you are not quick, it will cool off in that warped position and you won't like it because it will ruin your design. If it is buttons, open up the holes before you shrink it and insert a wooden toothpick in each hole and try holding it down by them while you aim your heat gun downwards at the plastic. If it is a keychain embellishment, do the same. Have a small wooden block that you can put on top of the thing while it is still hot and give it a firm but gentle tap, so that it will flatten out evenly.
This is all I know and I would welcome more knowledge from someone who has a lot more experience.
    Take care!

Hi Everyone! I just joined. Among my crafts are pull tab crochet and paper mache, both of which are recycle arts.
Hope to learn a lot around here!

Welcome to the both of you!!
I recycle a lot, we are lucky cause we can burn a lot of stuff, but we don't burn plastics, it all gets recycled.
Check with your town regulations casue a lot more can be put in the bins now for recycling!!
I also reuse most damaged clothing in crafting, there is not much I toss anymore!!
I will be posting some new projects that I will be working on in the new year, as my sewing are is being moved to the basement and I am sharing the work space with my SIL as she is a sewer too but has no room to do it!!

    Have a great holiday all!!

Hi all! Any other yarn recyclers here? I also cut strips from reclaimed t-shirts. Other than that I recycle/rescue anything useful I can find in the trash. Paints, cardboard and bubble-wrap for packaging, glues, foam, tools, cheap jewelry, other textiles then the above mentioned t-shirts, you name it.
