Well, it is well into fall and the garage sales are long over where I live. How did everyone make out this summer? Unfortunately (or fortunately for the wallet, lol) I didn't make it to very many sales this summer. Company and house repairs took up most of my time but I did manage to sneak out a couple of times. My best find was probably the Swarovski crystal necklace full of 4mm to 12mm crystals for 50 cents. How did the rest of you make out? What was your best find of the summer? (I know where my SIL lives on Long Island, NY they are still having garage sales so some of you might still find that one BIG treasure!).

A friend and I have been hitting all the yardsale this past month and a half every weekend. I have just become Supervisor of our township [first women to become one here] so I am on a mission of trying to restore the old schoolhouse that is now our township/community bldg. The previous Supervisor [man] was in for 20 years and never did anything to keep it up. There is much work ahead but we're getting it cleaned to put an office and small museum in the upper room of the past students and teachers plus history of the little town where it is located. Back to the yard sales I have been getting old school desks, many picture frames to put the picture in I've copied off the originals, curtains and anything I can fine to add to this cause. I love yard sales and this is an inexpensive way of putting it back together.

I am in the boonies so I have to drive out of area to do yard sales, I don't know all the ins and outs up here when it comes to streets and such, but I am learning!!We have about 6 little towns with in 20 minutes of us so I scan the newspapers every week now!! We did find 2 this week and got some great stuff!! DH picked up 9 folding chairs for 50cents each, these will come in handy this September as we are having a big camp over for his 65th Birthday on the long weekend!! I also got 2 paddles for $2 each some books for mom and a few other things for the shop!!

I have been to both garage sale and flea markets were everthing should be in the dump!!LOL Some things I don't mind cleaning up, but broken things drive me crazy!!LOL

I usually don't find such great buys. We don't have too many garage sales in our area. When a church has a rummage sale around here, usually the workers pick out all the good stuff for themselves. We usually drive about an hour away for a huge flea market. Did you ever go to a flea market where all they have is junk? The stuff is so dirty and usually it is stuff I would throw in the garbage.

Wooooooooooo hoooooooo today I hit the motherload. A neighbor down the block was having a garage sale today. I knew it was going to be a nice clean sale because I know her. Well I had been planning on buying kay a sandbox for my yard but she had a really nice one for $10. They sell for $40. I also got her a light up school bus, a beautiful rocker for $2, a fold up doll house complete with all accessories $4 reg. $35, a really cute microwave that talks , lights up, beeps etc. $2, a grocery store checkout counter with register, scanner, safe, money and all the accessories that sounds so real when you play with it. It says thank you, come again. $4 and I got the prettiest table that was great to put a potted plant on. $3.. I just loved it.

Hi all...I don't get to go out as much as I would like because of all my craft shows. I am going to make it a point to go more often this year. I was doing a big festival show and across the street a family was having a huge yard sale. I got a huge amount of toys..like new for Kayleigh and only spent 7 dollars. I got a childs sweeper that was 1 dollar and my daughter had purchased the same thing at toys r us for $27. They had all kinds of toys in boxes that were never opened. I sometimes go to our local thrift shop for books and always find expensive toys for kay for a $1 or $1 a bag. I got her some great musical/ alphabet/ learning toys. I also picked up a disney riding toy for $3. She loves it. My daughter can't believe the great toys I find there.
