ATC Junkies Unite

Group Created by PatriciaL

A group to share your ATC's of all kinds, beginner to advanced. Share you ideas, teniques and suppliers!!

What is an ATC you ask????

The best rules or guildlines I could fine for you!!

Today the only rule for these cards is their 2.5 by 3.5 inch size (64 x 89 mm), same as baseball cards and collectible card games.

Artist Trading Cards are typically made on a base of card stock. However, ATCs have been created on metal, stiffened fabric, plastic, clay, glass, balsa wood, leather, embroidery canvas, acetate, heavy watercolor paper, and many other materials. The art on the cards can be done in any media: textile arts, pencil, watercolor, acrylic, oil, collage, scratch board, mixed media, assemblage, digital art, calligraphy, beadwork, rubber stamps, carved soft block stamps, pen and ink, colored pencil, airbrush, pastels, and many others - anything artists use.

The only standard requirement for an ATC is that its height and width measurements be 2.5" x 3.5" (64 x 89 mm), either vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) orientation. The sky is the limit for every other aspect of the art.

The size, 2.5" x 3.5", is exactly one-quarter of 5" x 7" (127 x 178 mm) - a common size for photography and illustration. This means artists focusing on 5" x 7" artwork can easily scale-down their works to exactly 1/4 size (using photo-manipulation software) to create ATCs. Else the basis of printed ATCs can later be modified with other methods - such painting or inking-over the base image.

There is no standard thickness for ATCs but people customarily make them thin enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets.

Whilst some people are sticklers for archival qualities, art does not necessarily have to be "forever" so many people use whatever materials fit their artistic needs, irrespective of those materials' longevity.

Hope this helps you discover the world of ATC making!!!

    Oh no!!!!!Black??? LOL!!!

I worked on some ATC today!! It's so relaxing!! I found a bunch that I had started. and I'm sure total changed from their original use!!LOL!!

Today I played with some of my new stamps, rub and buff paint, Oh yea and fine fine glitter!!! I bought that the other day!!LOL!!!

I love to take photos too!! Specialy nature and sunsets!! My mom gets really beautiful sunsets over the lake, we are too closed in here at the house!!

I have broken out my water colours again and one of the pads for water colour paper is 5x7 so it will give me 4 cards, so I was thinking of painting a picture then cutting so you have 4 pieces sort of like a puzzle!! I have a painting in the pad from last year, but not sure I want to cut it!!LOL

But if I am intentionaly painting it just for ATC it wont be so hard to cut it up!!LOL

Thanks Patricia! I really like to do the photography atc's because well...I like to take pictures! lol, and this gives me a way to share them with others. :)

I bought what I *thought* were clear sleeves for my cards tonight but it turned out they are black! :) At least I have a cool plastic case for my cards now that'll help keep them safe.

I added the other 6 cards I made yesterday. :)

I painted the chip board base and then I glued the photo on top of that and then I covered the front with a clear lamination sheet. On the back I glued a piece of white card stock and signed & dated them. :)

I have started one, but I need to work on my castle. I tend to bounce from project to project. This castle has to be done and it will take about 9 months....As soon as I finish the quardant I am on I will get busy on my rainbow card. Hey Debi, if you want ideas just give me a yell. I got so many I can share.

Get cards Patricia. As soon as I get around to it I will post some pics of mine and others I have received. I have a small photo album full plus a shoe box. I can't wait to start creating them again. Both my girls just love doing them as well and I don't mind as it is a creative output for them. Not too mention not hard on the pocket book. lol
