| First let me say this is NOT for blackboards!!!! This is SIDEWALK chalk. That being said, it is still easy to do and the kids loved it! Have made this many times with girl scouts and with other kids groups. When we did this I asked each child to bring their own egg shells, and one time I asked a friend who owned a resturant to save them for me (because we were not sure how many kids whould be attending event) Hope you give it a try and I hope your kids have as much fun making it and using it as mine did!!!
Supplies Needed:
* 7 egg shells
* 1 teaspoon flour
* 1 teaspoon hot tap water
* 2 Small dishes
* Paper Towles
* Spoon
* Food Coloring (optional, need lots)
* Plastic gloves for the kids to wear when mixing etc.
* Something to cover clothing (we used garbage bags with arm and head holes cut in them)
Instructions:
* Wash and dry egg shells
* Grind egg shells into a powder (using blender of food processor, or what ever way works for you)
* Mix together to for paste:
* 1 teaspoon hot tapwater
* 1 teaspoon flour
*food coloring (optional)
* Add:
* 1 TABLESPOON egg shell powder
* mix and mash until it all sticks together
* Shape and press mixture to form a chalk stick
* Roll tightly in a paper towel stirp
* Let dry 3 days
makes 1 chalk stick
Good Luck!!! (let me know how it turns out for you) |
