Default I am looking for a certain craft WIRE- NEED HELP
Old 02-12-2008, 01:27 PM   #1 (permalink)

Hi
I need some help. I have been looking for a black wire that has been coated with some kind of a rubber to protect it from rusting. Usually when I buy a store bought craft the manufacturers are using this type of a wire. I just wish I knew what it's called. Does any one have any idea what kind of a wire is it?
Thanks for the help
:D

It sounds like the new wire they carry in "Michael's" called wild wire. It's coated copper wire that come in all sorts of colors. I can't seem to remember if it came in black. Many craft stores probably carry it and would have it in the beading aisle.

Thank you for the reply, but that's not what I am looking for. This wire is silver inside and coated with a black rubber ... and it's very strong. Won't lose it's shape easily or break. :o

It sounds like telephone wire to me, (for wiring phones) not sure but that also comes in red white and yellow, if it is what I am thinking of. I used it with my scout troop years ago.

Are you looking for the Beadalon wire? it has 7 - 21 strands of stainless steel wire with a coloured coating on the outside - I've always used the gold or copper but don't recall seeing a black coating.
