Corn Husk Dolls Or Angels

I have a question about making "dolls" or "angels" from Corn Husks....do you have to do anything to the corn husks to "preserve" them before or after the doll or angel is made? I know you soak the husk to make them more pliable to make the item...but do you have to protect them with something afterwards???
Also I would appreciate it if someone has a simple idea using cornhusks to make an Angel...we( our Ladies Ministry) make 400 angels each year (maybe more this coming year) for sale at our Craft/Bake Sale. I wasn't sure if this was the place to ask this so I will also have this on the Angel and Doll making forums as well...Hope to hear from ya!

I don't think you put varnish or anything on them afterwards because they would be too brittle. To make an angel, maybe you can get glittery pipe cleaners to glue to the head for a halo. You'll need the skirt to be full, so maybe you can glue a cup underneath the husks to make her sturdier and to make her skirt to stick out more. I would look for good card stock for the wings that you can glue to the back. Does anyone else out there have any suggestions?
