Hi! I made a few of these last year, they are easy to do!! I am not very good at explaining things, but will try!!

You drill holes (size depending upon what beads you are using, I used tri beads) using drill and drill bit on the sides of the pot. Drilling holes where ever you want to decorate with beads. I decorated all the flower petals on the pot, and just all over. then use hot glue or tacky glue to glue in bead. Using tri beads work well because if you get the right drill bit size, they will pop right in, but also use a little glue as well to secure better. The decorating part is the easiest...just a lot of drilling !!! To put in lights, I would buy used lamps at garage/sales (can get for almost nothing!!) I took apart the lamps (very easy to do) and drill hole in the bottom of flower pot (they hang upside down) and fit the parts through the hole..(this is very hard for me to describe...but maybe you could figure that part out..I kinda have to show to explain this part!!) You can also buy electrical parts at a lighting store, or even walmart carries the parts for making your own lamp...just cheaper to buy at yard sale...To hang, use chain link or whatever else you can come up with to attach.

I hope this gets you started....I am so sorry I am not very good at explaining things, better to show you!!! Good luck...wish I had a picture to show you,,,but gave all mine away, and haven't made anymore for a while. Another thing I have seen, is using the smaller flower pots, you buy the string of christmas lights that have the large lights, usually a string of 10 - 12 (can find them at yard sales as well, I think they are the lights that used to be used years ago..not the mini lights) Anyway, you drill holes in bottom of flower pot, unsrew light, insert piece the light gets screwed onto threw the outside of flower pot and then screw bulb back into that piece by going in through the inside of flower pot. Then you can hang this on your awning....Good luck.... hope you understand at least some of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

Here is something I did and it is in the same form as the patio lights only difference is I bought colored lights from the dollar store like the ones you decorate your xmas tree with, then drilled holes big enough for the lights to fit in. I drilled a bigger hole at the bottom of the flower pot so the lights would go down inside and then I put the plug on the outside wrapped around some plastic chainlink or you could use whatever then I hot glued a couple of little birds and some leaves on the link so that my plug didn't show and then plugged them in a they looked so pretty. Pretty fast to do just had to drill. Just incase someone didn't want to do alot of glueing.

Hope you enjoy.

Thanks, your instructions are very helpful. I stumbled on this site trying to find instructions on making a lamp like this. I saw a lamp at a rummage sale. I did not know they were popular with campers. Very interesting.
