Default Colored fonts and more smilies!
Old 01-01-2008, 05:39 PM   #1 (permalink)

To dress up your posts with colored fonts and smilies, you first need to
change your editor and that's easy to do.
First look near the top of the forum, there is a green line with the following in it:
UserCP FAQ, Members List, Calender, New Posts, Search, Quick Links, Log Out.

Click UserCP (CP stands for Control Panel, you'll be using the area alot). You'll see the Control Panel on the left hand side of the page. Click Edit Options. There you will see alot of different options you can pick.
You want to scroll down to Miscellaneous Options. (I'll discuss the other sections at a later time, but they're mostly self explanatory.)

This is where you set the options to be able to use smilies and colored fonts. When you first sign up, basic editor is the default. You need to choose either Standard Editor or Enhanced Interface. Standard Editor, you don't see what the fonts or smilies look like until you post or preview the message. With Enhanced you see what your post will look like. When you want to reply to a post, if you'd like to get the standard editor, you need to click go advanced.
Once you've decided on all your options. Then click save changes at the bottom
and you will be all set.

Then you can go a make a post. You'll see lots of different editing items at the top of the posting box. If you put your cursor over them, that will tell you what that particular item does. You can't hurt anything and if you make a mistake you can edit your post. Use preview post if you're not sure of what you done has worked. Remember if you're replying to a post and want the editor to be there, click go advanced.

You can have favorite smilies. To do this..go to your User CP again. Then click Edit Favorite Smilies. Then you can check up to 15 favorite smilies. Scoll down and click save. Then you will have those favorite smilies in your editor. On the right hand side of the posting box, you'll see smilies, if you click more, the complete smilie list will pop up.

I think that's all that needs to be done, but if I've missed something let me know!
Happy posting!
