I pick them out AS they start to wilt. The day the head gets droopy I pull it out. IF they last a while, and go to full bloom, I take them out the moment a petal drops and hang them.

I\'ve kept the baby\'s breath with them, but not the ferns. With the leaves on the roses I feel there is enough green.

As to how long they last, I\'m not certain. I guess it would depend upon where you put them... I have a vase of roses that my father (who passed away 5 years ago) gave me on top of a wall unit where it gets NO knocking about... I\'ve had it for 12 or 15 years now. (And they have moved houses twice)

Thank You slide for your comment. Did you hang them upside down before they started to wilt or so? And Did you keep the greenery with it as well? And is that all you have to do is sray hairspray on it and turn upside down? How long do they last after they are dried?

Default Please Help! (Preserving Roses)
Old 12-31-1969, 07:00 PM   #3 (permalink)

Hello! I am a new member and I need some help. My Husband sent me Roses on Valentines Day, this was the first time he had every give me flowers in our 10 years together. So naturally I want to save them FOREVER. The roses are in a vase with the green leaves and it has miniture dasies and very small tiny pink flowers also. Well I would some how like to press the entire flower arrangement, basicly keep the arrangement like it is, and press it to put in a picture frame and hang it on the wall. Can someone please tell me if this can be done in the way that I want to do it? And if so HOW???? Thank You in advance.

I don\'t see why you can\'t dry your flowers and then arrange them as one arrangement behind glass as long as you don\'t overlap them and make them too thick. Or you could use a recessed frame sort of like a shadow box with glass.[addsig]
