Default Help needed please!!!!
Old 07-08-2008, 08:22 AM   #1 (permalink)

May I kindly ask for help? I am trying to hand embroider a set of doilies for the bedroom. I was thinking of the simple stitches like satin stitch, stem and back stitch . I intend to have roses, little flowers and butterflies in these doilies. Would someone please help me search for a pattern. I need to embroider these doilies for my friend. It seems that cross stitch is more popular than hand embroidery. Many thanks for your assistance Veronica

This site is one of the best I've seen. It is a virtual encyclopedia of stitches. The reason I am suggesting it is because with each stitch she includes several examples of its use. Maybe you could come up with your own design from her examples?

The best place to go for hand embroidery is Herrschner's they have an online store and offer a lot of embroidery that is printed on different items like dresser scarves and pillowcases. I have never seen designs in a chart for embroidery just printed ones. Cross stitch can be either way printed or in a chart. I love to embroidery but have slowed down on it in the last few years. Good luck finding some you like. Here is the url Herrschners Online Catalogs Just go to needlework.

Thank you so much for your prompt answer. The sites you suggested are full of information but to tell you the truth I was looking for designs to copy - a pattern Sorry if I was not much clear in my asking Veronica
