Free Motion Machine Embroidery

I just tried free motion machine embroidery for the first time. [img]images/smiley_icons/oops!.gif[/img] [img]images/smiley_icons/oops!.gif[/img] Needless to say I need a lot of Practice! I don't know if it's the machine or me, but this is a lot harder than I thought! [img]images/smiley_icons/angry.gif[/img] I don't have one of the fancy embroidery machines, and I am determined to master this art. I found a book called " The Complete Book of Machine Embroidery" and the pictures are inspiration for me. There was a picture and story about a woman who embroidered a beautiful and complex design zig-zag style with a treadle machine!! [img]images/smiley_icons/love30.gif[/img] [img]images/smiley_icons/love30.gif[/img] It just goes to show you that where there's a will there's a way. [img]images/smiley_icons/angel2.gif[/img] When I master this technique, I will share pictures. [img]images/smiley_icons/oh yes.gif[/img]

Well I had never heard of this till you posted!! I am going to have to try this!! Of course I had to do a search and I found a few helpful sites!!

I guess everyone has embroidery machines or machines that embroider now, so this art is almost lost. It's fun to try! I did see many books on this subject when I did my search!! This will be a winter project for me!! My main thing to do these days Is Jewellery, but I will never give up my machines!!



Infact I sewed up a bunch of curtains for my son and DIL's trailer this weekend!! They where tickled to update the look and it was instant with the curtains!! I just bought an old Black Kenmore for $10 a few weeks ago and it works like a charm and that's what I use up at the trailers!! I have all my curtains yet to do, but my addition is not done yet for me to work on them yet!!



Anyway I will be looking into this art some time!!!

[img]images/smiley_icons/smile.gif[/img] boy oh boy, you two are a dream come true....i've just started getting into hand embroidery and would love to do it on my machine.......i don't have an embroidery machine either and can't see paying all that money for something that i may not use all that often.....i have two sewing machines, so if i can learn how to do it on those, i can just dedicate one specifically for embroidery
