Lightbulb My Canada Day Hat
Old 07-15-2008, 11:15 PM   #1 (permalink)

I wanted to do something different for Canada Day so I decided to make a hat that looked like the Canadian Flag. I’ve never used a graph pattern before, so I hope you can follow my instructions.

Size:Pattern is done for an adult. You can make smaller using thinner yarn or hook to fit a child.

Materials:
Use hook size 6.00 mm
1 x 100 gm ball of Bernat Satin Acrylic worsted weight yarn in “Snow” and 1 in “Crimson”
Buttons etc for decoration.
Plastic canvas for the brim

Note:Using the Canadian Flag Graph from “planetshoup.com”, turn graph up-side-down as you will be making the hat from the top down. You will only need the white part and the leaf part of the graph as the rest will be red all round the sides. This part is 21 stitches wide and is 21 rows in length. The Crown is done in white. When changing colors, carry yarn and crochet over all round. This hat is crocheted in rounds and in single crochet.

Crown: With white
Ch 4. Join with ss to form ring.
