| I'm a self-taught knitter and finally now a crocheter, so I can't read a pattern to save my life, and I have no idea if what I am doing is really crocheting. I looked at the pictures and thought, I think I can do that, and so I picked up the crochet hooks I inherited from my grandma and tried again, and I came up with this sponge. A friend looked at it for me, well I sent her this picture and she thought it looked like I did a single crochet stitch, but I am not sure, I hope that is it, but I really thought it turned out cute, but then I had more ideas running through my head, so I tried something else.... I made the same sponge, only left one end open so that you can insert a bar of soap, and use it in the bath....I called it a soapy for no other reason than that is the first thing that came to mind..... I am pretty proud of them, and feeling more confident, so maybe now I will try to figure out what all those crochet patterns and symbols mean and see if I can't learn a few real stitches. | |

| Good job, Tammy! Looks like you got the hang of crocheting pretty quick. I always found crocheting to be much easier (and forgiving) than knitting. A simple rule of thread is: none over hook= single crochet (sc); once over hook= double crochet (dc); twice over hook = triple crochet or, as it is usually called, treble (tc) etc etc. Very easy! | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to neeterthings For This Useful Post: | | | Member Level up: 8%, 96 Points needed |

| Thanks! I have some patterns at home that make some lacey looking scarf and it calls for a TC ( or triple) I think, I really want to figure that one out, but everything I do never comes out looking like the picture. I felt so good after doing these, that I wanted to test a theory, that I could crochet in the round like I can knit, and so I made up a quick little Barbie doll skirt that worked and looked great. Since that worked, I have a picture in my head for a part sweater-part halter top for my daughter....was going to knit it, but it would take SO long!! So i started crocheting it.....have about 3-4 inches done so far, need about 10 inches.....once i get it done I will be sharing!!! Thanks again! | | | | |
