Mother's Day Poems

While trying to make Mother's Day cards today (yes, i know I'm running a little late!) I thought I would share some poems with the rest of you that might be doing the same thing or that might want to attempt it next year. This is a much more personal way to send a card--at least it's a one of a kind!!

A pillar of strength the pure meaning of Love

A Divine gift from our Lord up above

As gentle as rain on the petals of a rose

To kiss away fears and to hug away woes

A Doctor when tending a cold or a scrap

A Chef when making cookies or frosting a cake

A Tailor, A Chauffeur, A Fairy God Mother at times

But never to busy for a child's nursery rhymes



A source of Wisdom that comes from inside

A Manager, A Book Keeper, and a Private Tour Guide

The one that knows just what to say

When a child is having a difficult day



The maker of dreams and the setter of goals

As a pile of laundry she sits and folds

When strange noises go bump in the night

It's her loving hand that turns on the light



All things to family she feels she must be

Although her family may not see

In our Lord's kingdom the one that will fare

Is the one we call Mother. No others compare!

MORE THAN A MOTHER



When God set the world in place,

when He hung the stars up in space,

when He made the land and the sea,

then He made you and me.



He sat back and saw all that was good,

He saw things to be as they should.

Just one more blessing He had in store;

He knew a mother would have a special place

to shine His reflection on her child's face.

A mother will walk the extra mile

just to see her children smile.

She'll work her fingers to the bone

to make a house into a home.



A mother is there to teach and guide,

a mother will stay right by your side.

She'll be there through your pain and strife,

she'll stay constant in your life.



A mother will lend a helping hand

until you have the strength to stand.

She'll pick you up when you are down,

when you need a friend she'll stick around.



A mother is one who listens well,

will keep her word; will never tell.



A mother never pokes or pries

but stands quietly by your side,

giving you the strength you need,

encouraging you to succeed.



A mother is one who can be strong

when you need someone to lean on.



You're more than a mother to me;

a reflection of Him in your face I see,

a love that knows no boundaries.

IF I KNEW AS A CHILD



If I knew as a child what I know now, Mom,

I probably wouldn't have made things

so hard for you.

I would have understood

that you were looking out for my best interest.

. even though it may not have seemed so at the time.



I would have known how difficult it is to let go,

MY MOTHER KEPT A GARDEN



My Mother kept a garden,

a garden of the heart,

She planted all the good things

that gave my life it's start.

Please know that I believe in angels--if your Mother has gone to Heaven--I firmly believe that she is an angel watching over you and your family. If you listen closely and heed the signs, you will know that she is trying to communicate with you. Talk to her and when you say your prayers at night be sure to thank God for sending her to watch over you and your loved ones.

...never hires baby-sitters who are mean or ugly.

...can jump rope on one foot without falling down.

...isn't afraid of the dark.

...doesn't wear hair rollers when she visits school.

...compliments you on your progress with the violin.

...fixes hot chocolate on winter days and puts in two marshmallows.

...can whistle between between her teeth.

...baits your hook and doesn't get sick.

...thinks your face is beautiful even when it's dirty.

...doesn't nag you about your room when you're studying for a math test.

...reads the sports page and understands it!

...lets you ride your bike seven blocks to a friend's house--IF you promise to call her when you get there safely.

...has read "The House that Jack Built" at least 534 times.

...prays for you every day, whether you're good or bad.
