Hi, I love to loom knit, but cant always take a knitting loom everywhere, so I made one that will travel better. Very easy to make, and inexpensive too. hope this works!
I think I know how you made the looms, could you please let me know exactly how you made the comb one and the round one. I would love to make them asap.
Thank you,
Jeanne
Jeanne,
I will write the instructions out tonite, with all the part #'s and the how to for you and post them tomarrow. I should have scanned them into my craft file on my computer, but I've been distracted.
I have assembly pictures, but they are too big for the attachment limit here.
It's so easy!
I read a tutorial on the looms on line, can I post that Url here? It's a must read if you have any questions on looms, peg spacing, or construction. Perfect thing about using the combs......it already has pegs! LOL
Hi ladies!
Had an unexpected "pity party" yesterday, first one there, last one to leave LOL. Over it today!!!! :-)
for this loom you will need:
2-#8-32 two inch round head slotted boltscrews
4-#8 finishing washers
4-#8-32 hexagon bolt nuts
2-#8-32 self locking nylon nuts
2 identical wide toothcombs- with atleast 20 tynes
one drill bit- 11/64
a hand drill
needle nose pliers
a juicebox straw-optional
a pointy pair of scissor
a flat head screwdriver
masking tape
a sharpie marker
Patience is also optional, LOL
Place your combs on top of each other, and tape them together so that they won't slip while you drill the holes in the corners, dont rush- crooked holes means a crooked loom.
Before you drill, place one finishing nut on the corner of the comb, make sure the edges don't over lap, use your sharpie to mark the center of the hole. Do this on both corners, carefully drill the holes through both combs.
2 combs, 4 holes. On each boltscrew add a finishing washer, the bolt head sits in the dip, thread the bots through the holes of one comb. On each bolt, add a hexagon nut and tighten with your pliers. There should be no wiggle.
**Take your pointy scissors and insert the tip into the straw and snip it from end to end in one line. This makes a sleeve to cover the threads of the bolt that are exposed between the combs.....or you can use tape, (this just occured to me!!!)
Add the next set of hexagon nuts, and add the second comb. You'll have to adjust the hexagon nuts before the second comb to allow for the width of the comb and the additional width of the selflocking nuts, as the width of the combs can vary.
Once you get it all set, just thighten it all up, no wiggling.
**THE STRAW: (I didn't forget)
Since you've cut the straw it will fit right over the bolt threads. You will have to determine were the second hexagon nut will be on your boltscrew first, then cut the straw to length (to fit in between the
hexagon nuts. That will require a little disassembly. I like it. Slip it on the bolt and re-assemble.
I hope this makes sense, cause this is soooooo easy. I love this mini loom, have been looking all over for Looooonger widetooth combs with more tynes,if you come across any, please let me know!!
Wish I could post more pictures, but this site doesn't support my cell phone format. BUMMER!
Post pictures of your looms when you get done, I would be thrilled to see them!!!
Thanks

Drill the holes on a surface that won't be damaged, I used a telephone book!!
I read the tutorial several times.
I used a mini M&M's tube, but any round can or container could work
1 round container of choice
finishing nails
hot glue and hot glue gun
hemp twine
1 paddle bit and hand drill
needle nose pliers with wire cutter
a candle
utility scissors
a sharpie
I inserted the paddle bit into the tube and drilled out the bottom, making it hollow. Then I used the scissors to snip off the attached cap, make sure you don't cut into the lip on the tube.
Decide how many pegs (nails) you want to use. (Clean them with a paper towel and set them aside for now)
Use the sharpie to mark your pin placement on the lip that goes around the top of the tube, make it as even as you can.
Hold a finishing nail in the pliers and heat the tip of the nail over the candle, slowly pierce the heated tip through the marked spot on the lip. Dont try to stay in line with the tube, the tube narrows downward and you would never be able to get your work off the pegs. Straight up and down through all the marked dots.
Use the wire cutting part of the pliers to remove the points on the finishing nails that you cleaned and set aside, and glue them into the holes one by one. Don't rush. You want them straight and even. When that's done, you'll notice that there is a gap between the tube and the blunted nail ends, (there should be), I filled this in with a few layers of hot glue making sure to cover all the nails.
I finished it with the Hemp twine to make it "prettier" and for a comfort grip.
Pill bottles come in all sizes and would work great for a variety of peg variations.
It was easy. Again, I hope it makes sense and that you make a few of your own. Please post a pic if you do!
Thanks
