| Starting on Monday we will be doing an afaghan stitch, what you choose to make is your choice. The stitches you will need to know are as follows:
chain
double crochet
front and back post stitches
Four rows make the pattern.
You can make anything from a scarf, a lap o gram, baby afaghan, full size afaghan, shawl, your choice.
There is no yarn amount mentioned in this pattern.
I have quite abit of mint colored yarn so think I am going to do a baby afaghan.

For your project you will need to decide the following.
This stitch will work for you in multiples of 8 - that means any multiple of 8 - 24, 48, 96, etc. As long as the number you choose can be evenly divided by 4 with no spare stitches, you're onto a winner.
I am posting this early as I said Monday we would start. But because it suggests trying a scarf first I thought some of you might want to practice for the weekend before starting a big project like an afaghan so am posting two rows today and the last two tomorrow. These four rows will give you what you need to make your full project.
If you want to practice the stitch before doing a full project you may want to try this.
I'll suggest you start the crochet basketweave stitch with a sample of 16 stitches to get the feel of how this pattern is formed.
Here we go...chain 18, turn (the last 2 chains form the first of the double crochet stitches.)
Row 1-Work a double crochet into 3rd chain from hook, then double crochet into each chain to the end (16 stitches).
Row 2-Turn, chain 2, work 1 front post double crochet, *4 back post double crochets, 4 front post double crochets, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, then work 1 front post double crochet, then 1 double crochet into turning chain of previous row.
Here are the last two rows
Row 3-Turn, chain 2, work 1 back post double crochet,* 4 front post double crochets, 4 back post double crochets, repeat from * to last 2 stitches, work 1 back post double crochet, 1 double crochet into turning chain of previous row.
Row 4-Repeat row 3, then repeat row 2.
Here is the basket weave stitch, looking forward to seeing what everyone decides to make
