Default Prayer Shawl a long
Old 01-26-2008, 01:00 PM   #1 (permalink)

Starting this upcoming week. I am listing the materials you need, the pattern though is a surprise. If I do any large project I will tell you what it is so you can decide if you want to take part or not as you may have to purchase wool if you dont have enough. And also because I dont want someone to end up not liking what we are making so will just keep the small projects surprises.

Homespun®: Windsor 4 balls that are 6.00 oz./170 g (185 yd/169 m)
98% acrylic, 2% polyester

This is what the pattern calls for but I would use whatever you prefer. I know myself I am going to use just whatever I have 4 balls of. To me a prayer shawl should be made out of plain ordinary wool, nothing too fancy but this is up to you. Just make sure you have enough wool to finish.

Crochet Hook - Size K-10.5

I would appreciate it if you will let me know when your ready to start this, want to give you a few days to make sure you have the supplies. Will start mid week or so.

Happy Hooking
Meg

Ladies, I just finished my shawl and am very pleased. It hangs lovely and its nice and long. But I need to let you know that I used one of those big balls of wool as I had two of them as I am also using it in an afaghan I am working on. Well those balls are 464 grams 16ounces and I didnt even use the whole ball. This pattern called for 600 grams or 24 ounces. So it could be that I just used a different type of yarn but wanted to forewarn incase you are noticing by the time your half done you have not used half the alotted wool.
I want to make several more of these, this was a real quick project for me, hope the rest of you enjoy doing it. Will post a picture later on in the week.
