Join knit wit for a knit-along! Starting date is Jan. 22. Watch this board for the start!

Supplies needed:

1 ball of Sugar N Cream or Lion Kitchen Cotton worsted weight cotton yarn

1 pair size 8 US or Metric size 5

Pattern skill: moderately easy

Stitches used: Knit, YO (Yarn over), K2tog (knit 2 together), and sk1p (slip 1 knitwise, knit one, pass slipped stitch over)

Solid or verigated is fine, make the color pink, red or white for a Valentine's theme!

OK, are we ready to go? Let's get started.

First, Cast on 3 sts.

Row 1: Knit across

Row 2: K1, increase (knit into front and back of next st), K1 [4 sts.]

Row 3: K2, YO, K2 [5 sts.]

Row 4: AND ALL EVEN NUMBERED ROWS: Knit across

Row 5: K2, YO, K1, YO, K2 [7 sts]

Row 7: K2, YO, Knit across to last 2 sts, YO, K2 [9sts.]

Rows 9-24: Repeat rows 7 and 8, 8 times. [25 sts]

That's enough to get you started, and I'll be back tomorrow to get you going on the design part of the project.

If you need help for the increase in Row 2:

Knit into the next stitch, but do not take it off the left needle. Go into the back loop of the same stitch, and knit it again. You are essentially making 2 sts from 1.

Ready for day 2? Hang on, this is gonna be a fun ride now, ha ha! Let's start the design!

Row 25: K2, YO, K4, K2tg, YO, k15, YO, k2 [27 sts]

Ok, I've slacked off an extra day. I got caught up on other knitting projects. Today, we'll finish up the design part, and start the decreases. Don't forget, every even numbered row is done in plain knit.

Ok, that finishes off the design. We'll finish this project tomorrow.

Let's finish this project up today. I'd love to see pics of the finished projects. And don't worry if you think it's not perfect... so what? Many of you doing this haven't been knitting long, and I think that if you at least make it to the last stitch and stuck with it this whole time, then you have made remarkable progress, and I congratulate you for it.

Ok, here we go, let's finish it off:

Row 57: K1, SK1P, YO, SK1P, Knit across until there are only 5 sts left, K2tg, YO, K2tg, K1 [31 sts]

Rows 59-80: Repeat rows 57 and 58, 11 times. When that is done, you should have 9 sts left.

Row 81: K1, SK1P, YO, {Slip 1, k2tg, psso}, YO, K2tg, K1 [7 sts]

Row 83: K1, SK1P, YO, {Slip 1, k2tg, psso}, K1 [5 STS]

Row 85: K1, {Slip 1, k2tg, psso}, K1 [3 sts]

Bind off remaining 3 sts in KNIT.

We are done! Yay!!!! Can anyone tell what the design is?
