| Okay, here's the deal. Anytime my DH uses this thing, it goes haywire. He was on here for a pretty long while the other night, and ran Window Washer because he said it was starting to run really slow. Well, the next day I was online, and went to click a URL here in CC. The URL usually opens a new window, but nothing happened this time. Also, right clicking the link and clicking "open" or "open in new window" doesn't work anymore either. I have run Spybot S&D, AVG, CWShredder, and the TrendMicro Housecall... nothing was found.
Any ideas what went wrong or how to get my URL clicks back?
BTW, I run a Dell, Windows 98.

| Hi knit wit
I am noticing that we are having the same problem here with the urls. I am going to check into a few things and make a couple of calls. I will try to get back as soon as I can with hopefully an answer. Rumour has it yesterday that there were a number of problems with bridges through the networks yesterday. I have really been on too much to notice anything yet.

| Hey there!!
Just a note to maybe help out!! When ever you are having problems when on the CC go to another fav. site and try all these same things there!! If it still happens then you have a problem, but if it only happens here, it is the CC!! I know the other day it was really bad on here, but other sites I had no problems at all!!
Cupcake was letting Heidi know of the problems!!
If I'm not hitting it on the nail!! Never Mind!!! | | | | | Moderator Level up: 40%, 292 Points needed |

| Oh, I probably should have said. It's NOT just CC.... it's everywhere. Now I have to either copy/paste all url's or manually type them in.
Now my address bar is getting really full... anyone know how to remove these url's that I no longer want to keep up there?
TIA~

| I am having the same problem here. I am not sure what is going on. Some of them are working and others I want are not. And is is not just here but quite a few others I visit often. I am still waiting for someone to get back to me on this. Ebay was acting up as well not being able to direct the page you wanted, as well as a few craft sites are timing out before you get the page you want.
As for clearing the ones out you no longer want the only way I have is clicking on them then deleting them the only problem is it will take you to that page or site. I am working on it.

| I don't even get an error message. Nothing happens at all, really. Except the blue bar at the top (where it says Crafter's Community - Microsoft Internet Explorer) turns grey like it is trying to open a new window. My popup blocker isn't showing that it is blocking the new window... but if I disable the blocker, I do get what seems to be a new window trying to open. Then that window freezes immediately.
Something else weird I've noticed. I was visiting another message board last night, and it looks like EVERYONE in that forum was making the exact same kinds of typos. Words repeating in mid sentence. This isn't exact, but it's just me trying to show you what I'm talking about.
<font color="red">"Does anyone anyknowone what is wrongong with my compucomputer?"</font>
This whole situation is getting very confusing and aggravating. I used to use HijackThis logs, but I haven't updated it in quite awhile... now I can't do that either because I need a new window to pop up. Ok knit wit
This is starting to sound more like a trojan or virus but you say it hasn't found anything. When we first got this computer it picked up some kind of high jacker that sounds the same. We ran all virus updates and nothing. We ended up having to take it in to the repair. There was a high jacker and it was so deeply hiden was what our problem was. Our was when you wanted to open a page it would come up then automatically open a new window with lets say not nice stuff. We couldn't get out of it and very frustrating indeed. I spent two hours with my service center trying to figure it out they went as far as to tell me my computer was too far from the plug and made me move my entire desk and rearrange my living room in one night.
I wish I could sit infornt of your computer I would have a better idea.
If you can try going to download.com and download AdAware SE
I will give you the link and hopefully you can use it to get to where you need. This is one of the security items that our computer guy installed when we had that problem. Once you have downloaded it run and see what if anything comes up. You should run this program at least once a week. Lately we have been running every other day because so much crap coming through lately.
The link is http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?qt=adawar e&tg=dl-2001&search.x=10&search.y=9
When you get to this page click on download now for AdAware SE Personal Edition 1.06. Once it is down run a scan. This could bring up any problems and once the scan is finish click on the items you wish to quarentine and click finish.
I hope this works. Unfortunately without being right there it is hard to figure it out sometimes what is creating the problem.
But we will keep trying okay. I will be back on later tonight sometime.
An after thought have you ran any mirco soft updates lately on the computer?

| I finally got AdAware SE loaded... I used to use it a long time ago, but it kept interferring with other antispyware programs.
Anywho, the first time I attempted to run it, it froze up. I could hear the unit grinding like it was scanning, but it wasn't going anywhere. After a few minutes, I did CTRL ALT DEL... and it said Adaware not responding. So, I restarted the computer, got froze up during restart, had to go thru the scan disk bs that it does when the puter isn't shut down properly, then attempted Adaware again. This time it completed the scan, and detected the Coulomb Dialer and some other stuff, tracking cookies, etc. I quarantined everything, and deleted. Should I not have deleted? Did deleting the quarantine release it back to the system? Adaware isn't as easy to use as it was a year and a half ago.
Anywho, all that was last night. This morning, I run adaware just incase anything is reinstalled upon reboot (like CoolWWWSearch can do). It still picked up traces of MRU's and tracking cookies.
Does anyone have a Master Disc for Windows 98? I wanna just clear this hard drive and start completely anew. | | | | | Moderator Level up: 32%, 160 Points needed |

Yes when you finish quaretining them you delete them and gone. You had a dialer that is not nice. I have a windows 98 SE I could send you. I just have to call and get the number for it. It has gone missing.
PM if you want it and I can put it in the mail.
I wish I could have help more but I was taking to our computer friend yesterday and he said that he would have to sit in front of the computer to see where this problem is coming from as it sounds like it could be deep inside.
Let me know if you want this windows 98 SE and I will get it our asap for you.
