CHEAP CHICKSThis forum is to post money saving tips, also, sites that offer tips, coupons and rebates. A coupon swap will also be a part of this board. Any SPAM will be deleted and user banned from the site!
All of these are make-sense and we probably all know them but sometimes it's good to be reminded:
1. Take off the lead foot! Fast, jerky stops and/or high speed driving is a gas guzzler. Either leave early or don't be in such a hurry while you're driving. Keep in mind that high gasoline prices prevent your paycheck from going as far.
2. Fast food, long waits! Addicted to Big Macs? Craving for Fish n Chips? PARK YOUR CAR; go inside and order. Waiting in line, especially with AC running, is doing nothing but wasting gasoline. Same thing with bank windows. If there is no line, go ahead and proceed to the window but turn off the ignition while your transaction is being handled.
3. Organize your errands! I no longer leave the house because I need one item at the grocery. (Haven't done that in awhile, actually1) Make a list of everything you need to do that day, then map out (either on paper or in your mind) how you can most efficiently make one "swoop" of where you need to go.
I know there are many other tips but these are the three that come to mind right now.

Hubby has noticed that going 10 km less an hour has made a noticable difference inhis gas consumption
Another one he found was to remove any excess weight from the car - there seemed to be a lot of accumulation in our old car we cleaned it out and got rid of whatever he didn't need! (in that car's case, that included the back seat!
I had forgotten about the weight thing! My hubby has been wanting to take out the back seat in my van and I've been fighting it. Looks like he'll win this one! Thanks, Slide!
Make sure your tires are inflated properly. Under-inflated tires can make the car seem sluggish, giving you the urge to drive faster. Keep them properly inflated according to manufacturer's suggestion.
Turn off the AC, and let the air in your hair. AC causes the vehicle to burn more gas.
Have your exhaust system checked. Make sure it is not clogged, and the vehicle can "breathe". Have the "breather" checked as well.
One thing I learned from living in the heat in San Antonio was to never buy gas during the heat of the day. The heat impacts the weight as well as some of it evaporates giving less gas to your tank per gallon as well as being more polluting to the surrounding air.
For anyone in Canada, something that Slide shared awhile back was this...
When shopping at Canadian Tire save up theie money coupons and also take advantage of the gas bars 8,9,sometimes 12 times coupon and get gas.
Then take the coupons into the store and buy a gift card. You can't use the coupons at the gas bar, but you can use a gift card. Guess what you just got free gas!!! By useing their coupon system and saving them up and buying the gift card witht he coupons which you can do!!!!!
DH and I were saving for a $25 card, but we need a battery for the trailer so we are useing the coupons for that, but we will just start saving them up again!!LOL
I live in Germany and we pay the equivalent of over $9.00 a gallon here. It is really not fun going anywhere anymore. But when we do, we try to drive sensibly to keep the gas mileage down.
Since I live within an acceptable distance to town, I use my bike as much as possible to do errands and get groceries. It is not only good for the environment and my purse, it also keeps me active and burns off those extra calories.
