| In our lives we read many books and after finishing the book we say ,gee that was a good book. Looking back to this point in my life, i am 56 I cant help remembering the three books that will always be the best books ever. Why they have stuck in my mind when I am such an avid reader, I dont know but I would like to share them with you.
The first book is AIRSHIP NINE, I dont know the author but i found it my local library just under the title. Its about an atomic explosion that has occured on earth and the only people alive are scientists on the Southpole doing experiments and the passengers and crew of an airship heading for the South Pole. It is a story about what happens when members of different countries try to work together to rebuild the world and how they learn to trust each other. A very good book. Not as depressing as it sounds, theres a little mystery in it as well.
The Second book is called MY BROTHERS KEEPER, by Marcia Kellerman. Its a story told by a journalist as he witnesses the amazing developments when two wealthy brothers die. The story starts at the beginning when the brothers were young and the things that happen to them along the way. Its one mystery after another that is solved one by one as the lives of the brothers are revealed. You probably have heard of some rich person dying and when the police enter the mansion they find tons of newspapers, 6 pianos and in this case a completely assembled car in the basement with no way to get it out in one piece. What makes the story so good is that every wacky thing the brothers do is explained and in the end you could easily see yourself doing the same thing. Once the explaination is understood , the brothers were not so wacky afterall. Wonderful book.
The Third Book, Is called FIVE OR SEVEN SMOOTH STONES, i am not sure about the title. Its a generational book that takes you in a complete circle and its the final pages that explain everything and the book comes together
Another great book. I think if you read them you will understand why these thr ee stick in my mind and they will stick in yours.
I hope someone will read these book and let me know what they think. Gail |
