Default Grandma's Paddle
Old 09-06-2002, 05:04 PM   #1 (permalink)

I came across instructions on how to make what you are looking for just the other day. I hope this helps. Cut two identical heart shapes about 5 inches high. Sew ruffled lace to wrong side of one heart. With wrong sides facing, sew hearts together leaving 1/2 inch opening on either side of point at bottom. Turn R/S out and stuff with cotton. Paint or stain a paint stirring stick. When dry, insert in opening @ bottom of heart and glue in place. After reading this, I thought of two things. First, paint stirring sticks are usually free at places like Home Depot. Remember to sand off any print that may be on paddle so wont show thru paint or stain. Second, I was thinking of glueing the lace on instead of sewing it to save time. I plan on making some myself. Good Luck and I hope your paddles come out great! Elaine

I'm no poet, but I like to write little "dittys". So will this do:

"I could scream

And I could shout,

If I wanted...

I could pout!

'Cause my Granny

Won't hurt me!

Her paddle is soft

As soft can be!"
