This is my most favorite recipe for homemade lip balm.
1 1/2 parts Cocoa butter
1 1/2 parts Bee's wax
3 parts Sweet Almond Oil(can use other oil if nut allergy)
Flavoring
Combine the first three ingredients in a double broiler until melted and combined. Remove from heat working quickly add flavor oil. Fill lip balm pots and you are done. If you find it too hard then return to double broiler and add a little more oil. You may have to play with it to get the smoothness you would like. This makes a harder type of balm. You could use soya wax if you would like which makes a softer balm.
I wish I had this recipe when I was making lip blam. I bought my compund already done and then melted it to add color and flavoring and then into pots.
I have never tried the pre-made stuff that you just add to. I am lucky enough to include local bees wax which is nice. I have another one you use chocolate chips in. It was a big seller last year. You almost wanted to eat it, the young kids went nuts over it because of the chocolate. lol
I never went deep enough into the whole bath and body to make my own bases. I always bought the add in stuff. People loved the lip blam I made for one show. Cleaned me out. Of coruse it was all little girls and teen girls.
I just love those customers, the younger crowd of females. They seem to just go nuts over this stuff. Great for sales. I should start charging my girls in seems they are always in my stock of stuff. lol You don't want to see my bathroom they have ever product I have made on the shelf.
