I would like to give bath salts as a gift for my Grandmother at Christmas. She likes lilac and that scent is hard to find. Does anyone know where I can get instructions for it?

I just finished making a lot of bath salts last night for my Christmas baskets. I use Epsom Salt and I buy it from the local feed store who carry it in bulk. I think it is much cheaper this way. For scent and colour I use the ones that I have for melt and pour soap.

Have fun. Making bath salts is very easy and fast. Let us know how you do.</font>

It's actually quite easy. You just have to mix all the ingredients and if you decided to add color to your bath salts, you can do so by mixing it on a different container. As an added tip, you can a little dendritic salts to where you would addd your colors and fragrances. Now, when it comes to recipes, there are a lot of resources on the web, like this one.

You can also find some affordable sea salts on the website I gave you, specially when you buy bulk sizes.

Hello flhusker

My salts always seem a like they are wet from the oils I use. I not only add the fragrant (F.O) or essentials oils (E.O), but I also like to add Sweet Almond Oil, or Grapeseed Oil, as well as I do add Glycerine now and then. You could always try placing you salts on a cookie sheet when you have them mixed, a nice even layer and then put them up some where to soak a day or two. I use very little fragrant or essential oil and mine still seem to have a wet appearance and that is main due to the oil. They will not totally dry but will absorb more of the oil. You only need the smallest about of fragrant oil to scent them. I make mine about 2 cups of salts to about maybe the most is 1/4 tsp or less of scent oil whether it be F.O or E.O

I hope this helps, if you have any other ? just shout.

Smiles n hugs
Leah

Thank you. I will have to try that. I also read somewhere to put it in the oven for a short period of time but that kind of worries me. flhusker
