Sticking paper to material

I am planning a baby shower for my daughter and would like to make the invitations from material. My problem is that I don't know how to write the invitation on the material? Is there a paper which I can sew to the material or is there a material which I can print on with an ordinary printer. Or can I fuse the paper (invite) to the material....?

I will appreciate any help I can get.
