Default Back to School Lunches

On the subject of school lunches--thought I would list the ones that my kids and grandkids enjoyed:

1)Apple with Cheese Slice Sandwiches--thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith was their favorite) with a slice of Kraft or Velvetta cheese with mayo & white bread.

2)Banana with Peanut Butter Sandwiches--sliced banana with peanut butter on white bread.

3)Pineapple with Sliced Cheese--canned sliced pineapple (drained and blotted with paper towel) with sliced cheese with mayo & white bread. (optional: For a very busy day, add some slice ham for added protein).

3)Chocolate Chips with Peanut Butter--Saute two slices of white bread on griddle with small amount of butter or margarine--toast both sides of bread--spread peanut butter on one side and sprinkle chocolate chips on the other--bring together and leave for about a minute or two on griddle--wrap in foil.

4)Tomato, Lettuce, Cheese & Child's Favorite Sliced Meat--spread mayo on white bread--bag that separately--bag the remaining ingredients in separate bags so that the child can make their own sandwich at lunch (and it won't be soggy).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I always put raw veggies in a bag along with some of the child favorite salad dressing in a very small Tupperware container. They can dip and eat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Buy the LARGE bags of chips and cookies and put them in baggies--saves money!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On hot or warm days, put a small thermos with sherbet or ice cream in for a treat. Or chilled applesauce or fruit cocktail.
On cold days, put the small thermos in with their favorite soup--don't forget the crackers!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And a photo or cartoon cut from a magazine or newspaper--to stimulate conversation during lunch.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inside the bag or box--where only the child can see--write a special message of love to them or if pushed for time--a heart sticker--something so that they know that you were thinking only of them at that particular moment!
Hope this helps! It did my for babies!
