| Materials
Wooden items: bal knob 1" diameter, dowel. 1/2" diameter, 6 1/2 inches.
Curly raffia doll hair (small curls) one package
Grapevine bow, 4" across
Homespun fabrics: burgundy, 3"x6" (for dress); green with white dot, 3/4"x8" (for dress bow)
thin craft wire or twine, 3 inches
black acrylic paint or fine line black permanent marker
Instructions
1. make the head. Turn ball knob so that flat end is at bottom. For each eye. dip handle end of paintbrush into black paint, then touch handle to surface. Paint right eye slightly highter than left eye. Let dry.
Use cotton-swab to apply powdered blush to cheeks. (note: if you don't like the way Rosie's face came out, turn the head around and try again).
For hair on back of head, see fig 1. Holding ringlets tightly together, cut 3 strands from doll hair long enough to wrap around sides and back of head; glue strands to head.
For hair around face, see fig.2 In the same way as hair on back of head. Cut a strand of doll hair to wrap around sides and top of face; glue strand around face.
2. Make the body. use craft knife or pencil sharpener to trim one end of dowel to a point; sand point until smooth. For pencil "lead". paint tip of body with black.
3. Finishing. With dress seam at center back, glue grapevine bow to center back of body, approximately 1" below bottom of head.
For hanging loop, insert twine or craft wire through center back of wings; tie or twist ends together.
for dress bow teas a 3/4x8" strip from green fabric. Tie fabric into small bow with 1"tails. Glue bow to center neckline.
For hair bow, tear a 1/2" wide strip from burgundy fabric. Tie a knowt in center of strip, trim bow ends to measure 1/2". Glue bow knot to top of head.
