I finally put some of my old cards that I've been hoarding to use as NEW Christmas cards. Those of you who have sent me cards in the past might recognize some of the pieces from them!
These are really simple treatments and achieved by using leftover ribbons and/or rickrack as frames, fabric for backgrounds, etc.
I did a project with my kids when they were young trying to use up all of the christmas cards I had been saving because they were to pretty to toss. I cut a piece of poster board the size of a place mat. Then the kids picked out cards they liked or were special to them in some way and glued them to both sides of the poster board. When the glue was dry we coverd each one with clear contact paper and trimmed them out with pretty colored duct tape. There ya go a very special christmas placemat for each member of the family that spills and drips can be wiped up with a dish cloth. What fun we had while picking out the cards and telling the kids about the people they mignt not know or remember. Kind of a neat way to pass on a little bit of family history. Wouldn't it be a great tradition to pass them on when your child gets married, then they can do them with their families.
Dear God,
I didn't think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset you made on Tuesday night. That was really cool.
