Default photo ink jet transfer paper
Old 02-17-2007, 12:45 PM   #1 (permalink)

In 2003 I bought ink jet transfer paper to put photos onto muslin fabrics to put into future quilts. In 2006 I tried using the same paper and apparently it doesn't peel off as well as it used to after ironing the photo onto fabric. I got so frustrated & decided the paper must have turned bad. I found out you can print directly onto muslin fabric by ironing freezer paper onto the back of the fabic - just cut it the same size of regular paper 8.5 inches by 11 inches. But there were alot of times the edge of the fabric would fray and get caught in the printer causing it to jam. Now I heard there's a new liquid called Bubble Jet Rinse (Joanns.com ) that you soak the fabric then let dry then iron the freezer paper on the back then insert it into the printer. The solution is suppose to adhere the ink to the fabric so it doesn't wash out which is necessary in quilting. Has anyone used this Bubble Jet Rinse & has it washed off or made any photos bleed? Thanks for your advice.

From what I understand and have done, there are many ways to do this. And I can't explain each way...I'd get myself all confussed. But I'm on www.quiltingboard.com they've talked about that alot!!! If you just go to that site, then click the main...from there you can look up some of they ways they've done it. If you have any questions about what they said...they're really great about explaining stuff again.

I did learn from one of the people in my Fiber Arts class...watch what is on the pictures. One lady printed a picture of her husband onto fabric, he was wearing a shirt that said something (I don't remember what), but when it printed it reversed the image...and the writing. So, if the shirt said "HI" it read "IH". Just something to keep in mind.

Good Luck!!
