Ideas for Fabric Scraps |

If you sew and are anything like me, you hate to throw away fabric scraps. Here are a couple ways I use mine:
1) Make little primitive bags by sewing three sides of identical sized fabric together - don't even bother hemming the top! Tear a strip of muslin, homespun, or whatever you have to tie the top of the bag closed.
Uses:
*I often put great smelling potpourri in them and enclose them with my Ebay dolls as part of my buyer's thank you gift.
*Put them in underwear/sock drawers, hang them in closets or put them in a box with your writing paper. Your notes will smell sooo good!
*Put little trinkets or homemade candies, cookies in them and use them as hostess gifts
*Great for children's parties! Throw in a couple little rings, party watches, etc.
The size of your bag doesn't matter; large or small, make them to fit your needs.
2) Use them for appliques! If you don't like sewing appliques but enjoy the look, iron a piece of double-sided fusing on the scrap before you cut it, then simply iron it onto your project! I put them on my grandkids' craft aprons, vests, tote bags, etc.

If you can cut your scraps into lengths, you can tie them around a wreath form to make a rag wreath.
I've seen plain brown paper gift bags decorated with scraps of material, buttons etc. for a nice gift bag for the crafter. |
3) Cover a lightswitch!
4) Make little barnyard animals for a baby.
5) Cover a small photo album
6) Make a jar lid cover! Makes a nice touch for homemade that come from your kitchen!
7) Make little pillows in different shapes - hearts, squares, stars, etc. - and put them in a basket or bowl for a country decorating accent.
8) Make ornaments!
I know there are many other uses out there - if you respond to this post with yours, I'll add it so we'll have them all in one place!
