Easy and VERY frugal centerpiece

I saw this idea in a magazine - my first thought was, "Wow, that's pretty" and my second thought was, "Dummy, why didn't YOU think of that?"

If you have a cake platter - you know, the kind that is on a pedestal with a glass top - create a little "village" or scene on the pedestal by using things like miniature houses, pine trees, etc. Start out with a layer of batting, fiberfill or even twigs of pine. Finish by putting the clear top over your scene. Bingo! You have a centerpiece that is elevated above your buffet or dinnertable!
