I haven't tried it yet so I don't know for sure if it actually works or not. It makes sense that it would. The alcohol would evaporate as it dried from the blush, eye shadow, or any other type of pressed powder make up you used it with.
"I was traveling for business, and during my flight, my pressed powder blush cracked and broke into a bunch of little pieces. I usually throw it away when that happens since I can no longer get even coverage with it, but this time I decided to try an idea I read about a long time ago. I put the pieces into a small bowl and then pulverized them with a spoon. I mixed in some rubbing alcohol until I had a smooth paste (a bit thicker than pancake batter, but thinner than muffin batter). Then I cleaned out an old, mostly-empty, plastic eye shadow container that's been lurking in my makeup drawer for a while now, scooped the paste into it, patted it smooth and let it dry.
After a few days, the alcohol had all dried and the powder looked just as it had when I bought it -- pressed into a nice little cake. It works just great." |
