Default cleaning tips

If this is the wrong place to post this, please feel free to move!! I got this in an email and remember someone having trouble with crayon on walls (???) I personally use goo gone, but this suggests baking soda....maybe someone can use...

Crayon marks on walls come off remarkably well if wiped with a damp cloth

dipped in baking soda.

- For permanent marker on appliances or counter tops (including receipt

blue) dunk a paper towel in rubbing alcohol and wipe.

- Blood stains on clothes come right out if you pour a little peroxide on a

cloth and wipe off every drop.

- Try straight vinegar and newspaper to clean windows. Remember - not on a

sunny day since fast drying and streaks are synonymous. Also, remember to

use vertical strokes on one side and horizontal on the other to which side

has streaks.

- For artificial flowers, pour salt into a bag with flowers and shake

vigorously. Dust and dirt will be absorbed and leave flowers looking like

new!

- Burn you skillet? A drop or two of dish soap in enough water to cover

bottom of pan, brought to a boil will make cleaning a breeze.

- Spray Tupperware with nonstick cooking spray before any tomato based

foods. Voila, no stains.

Great tips Cathy, Thanks!

I'm the one who asked about the crayon marks... mostly on glass. I found a site that reccommended WD40... DON'T DO IT. The WD40 leaves oily streaks all over the glass and is near impossible to get off. I had to go over it 4 times with DH's industrial glass cleaner. I followed another member's advice, white toothpaste. It works like a charm. It also cleaned the doorframe. But, I was told to only use the toothpaste if the walls are not painted with water based paint. Mine are oil based, so it worked fine. Whoever mentioned the toothpaste... Thank you!

Since I now have clean windows and walls, I have since made a visit to the local newspaper office and offered to buy a partial roll of paper. They give that stuff away for free! I go there every 2 weeks to get a roll... and my lil artist has a field day with it.

Thanks again, Cathy. Great job!
