| When my kids were little we'd do "stop 10". Stop what you're doing and pick up 10 things, then go back to what you were doing. It was easy, manageable, and didn't over whelm them.
That's the idea here. If you want to get rid of 50, go for it. But if the idea of trying to reach 50 makes you do none it doesn't help.
If 10 a day gets you the control you need, do that.
20 a day for 31 days is 620 items! That's a serious dent! Don't over think it. Do what ever number works for you.
Yesterday I cleaned off the dining room table. 20 was not so easy (not much to get rid of, just put away), but now I can see the table top again.
Today I'm going through books. 20 will be easy.
