glad to here you found the critter who is doing all the duty lol
yes they do make all that kind of mess and worse we live in the country
and this past winter was really cold so we had one comming to eat our
cat food we have for out door cats they are very agressive with other animals it killed three of our out door kittens .. my kids older ones found one of them it was not nice we put a live trap out and caught the thing my brother came out and shot it it was about 15 lbs or bigger
that would explaine why you did not see it during the day they are night time critters
