Unless you are an awesome calorie counter, it can be difficult to "keep within your calorie range" however, if you try to eat sensibly, eat whole foods (salads, etc) as much as possible, avoid cream and butter sauces, you will be better off. If you have a choice of fried or poached, choose poached etc. We generall eat in a resturaunt maybe 3 times a year, I consider it my right to choose whatever, since it doesn't happen very often - however, even then, I make my choices knowing that if I eat "that" I could have eaten "this" instead (that order of fries may have fewer calories than my fav chocolate bar for instance)
