Default Kewpies and Butterflies
Old 03-20-2008, 05:01 PM   #1 (permalink)

I don't how many of you know what a kewpie is but I collect them. They are tiny like a fairy, however, they are round little babies with wings. The pics will probably be more helpful than my description could ever be. They were created by Rose O'Neill in the early 1900's. I actally had the opportunity to visit her home which is now a museum in Branson, MO. My grandma gave me my first kewpie and I have been collecting them ever since.
I also love butterflies. I started collecting them a few years back when I ran across a story about the butterfly emerging from its cocoon. Long story short, the struggle to be free of the cocoon strenghens the butterfly's wings so it can fly. The same can be said of humans and our struggles. At any rate they are quite pretty and delicate and colorful. There isn't a room in our home without at least one butterfly.
That's about it for my collections except for my love affair with jazz music, Audrey Hepburn movies, tweety bird.........
