With number 4 circular needles and white yarn, cast on 108 stitches. Place a st marker at end of row. Being careful not to twist sts, join. <br />

Rnd 1: *K1, P1, repeat from * around. Repeat Rnd 1 until work measures 3 inches. <br />

Rnd 2: (Changing to red yarn, work this rnd onto number 6 circular needles.) K around. Repeat Rnd 2 for 3 inches until length of entire work measures 6 inches. (Continue working on number 6 circular needles, changing to dpn when decrease in number of sts makes it necessary.) <br />

Working garter stitch with two strands of yarn on number 9 needles, 4 stitches and 7 rows equal 1 inch.<br />
Measurements<br />
For child's sizes, width measures 2-1/2 inches with length of 5 inches (small); 5-1/2 inches (medium); and 6 inches (large). <br />
For youth sizes, width measures 3 inches with length of 7 inches (small); 7-1/2 inches (medium); and 8 inches (large). <br />
For adult sizes, width measures 3-1/2 inches with length of 9 inches (small); 10 inches (medium); and 11 inches (large). Instructions are given in child's size; youth and adult sizes follow in parentheses.<br />
Slipper<br />
With number 9 knitting needles and double strands of Nutmeg yarn, cast on 23 (29, 35) sts. <br />

ROW 2: K across. <br />
Repeat these two rows until piece measures 1-1/2 (2, 2-1/2) inches less than desired length, ending with Row 2.<br />

Antler Finishing<br />
(All sizes) Lay pieces flat, wrong side up. Twist chenille stems to shape of pieces (use two chenille stems twisted together for adult and youth antlers; a single stem for child antlers). <br />
 <br />
With yarn and tapestry needle, sew edges together to form seam in center back of antler. Stitches will be stretched somewhat taut over chenille stem, which gives the antler a more “authentic” look.<br />
Nose<br />
(Make two) <br />
With Red, wind yarn around a 1 (1-1/2, 2) inch piece of cardboard 20 (25, 30) times. Slip piece of yarn between cardboard and wound yarn. Tie. Cut ends of loops. Trim to even pom-pom into fairly round ball.<br />
Finishing<br />
Draw up and secure sts at toe. Sew top seam, leaving enough of an opening to comfortably accommodate foot. Sew back seam. Sew antlers in place at top of slipper. Sew ears outside antlers. Sew red pompom to tip of toe to form Rudolph’s nose. Sew buttons in place for eyes, glue moving eyes on top of buttons. <font color="Red">(Make French knots from contrasting color yam for slippers intended for children under 3 years of age.)</font>]]></description>
