Introduction: This candle can be used alone or in a centerpiece.
My twin sister and I made these candles in high school.
Materials: 1 box Gulf parafin planks
1 wick longer than parafin planks
glitter, any color, optional
iron
ironing board
foil to cover ironing board
metal coffee can or any can about that size
pot to hold can in hot water
hand held rotary beater
old knife to apply "icing"
green styrofoam sheet, size you want
greenery to poke into the styrofoam sheet,
I prefer real cedar, it lays very well.
small string of lights, colored or white, optional

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU START!!!!!

Cover work area of ironing board with foil.
Quickly run hot iron, no steam, over one plank
and place another plank on top.
Do this to two more pieces. You will have two groups
of two planks.
Run iron over one group and quickly center the wick on
top. Wick is longer than the planks.
Run iron over the wick and plank and quickly place
the other two planks group on top.
You will have four planks with the wick in the center.
Wick will keep planks from touching each other.
This is okay.
In metal can place the fifth plank of wax and put can
in boiler and melt the wax.
BE CAREFUL THIS IS HOT!!!!
When the wax is clear using the rotary beater, beat the wax in the can until it turns white again, but not hard.
Apply the "icing" to one side of the candle. Do not make it solid like you would icing on a cake. (The candle light will show through.)
Quickly sprinkle glitter on that side while wax is still hot.
Apply melted wax to another side and sprinkle glitter.
Do this to the other two sides.
Apply melted wax to top last and apply the glitter.
Let the candle cool before touching.
Place candle where you want it on the styrofoam sheet.
Poke greenery into the styrofoam sheet around candle covering the styrofoam.

Can add small string of small colored or white lights to the greenery.
